In addition to our educational programs, Sylvan Heights Bird Park offers several educational experiences and activities to enhance your field trip.  The Wetland Safari Challenge, Endangered Species Passport,  and Scavenger Hunt make great "in-the-field" assignments, while the Landing Zone gives students an up-close encounter they'll be talking about long after the field trip is over!

Go on a wetland adventure! Search for clues to questions about native wildlife and wetlands, sketch your observations, and collect images from the brass rubbing plaques.  Safari kits are $5, and include a souvenir booklet, pencil, crayon, and sticker.

Recommended for grades 3 and up (including adults)!

Travel through the continents at Sylvan Heights Bird Park in search of endangered species. Find them all to earn your Conservationist stamp! Passport kits are $3.00 and include a souvenir booklet, pencil, and stamp.

Recommended for grades 3 and up.

Engage younger learners with the Sylvan Heights Scavenger Hunt!  Students can search the park for peacocks, geese, toucans, and more.  The scavenger hunt kit costs $2 and includes a colorful guide and pencil.

Recommended for grades 2 and under.

Don't miss the Landing Zone during your Sylvan Heights field trip!  Visitors enter into a large, free-flight aviary with hundreds of colorful parakeets, flamingos, and other exotic birds.  Entrance to the Landing Zone is free, but for the best experience, purchase a seed stick or bag of flamingo food and give your students an unforgettable up-close encounter!

Visitors and students can feed many of the birds on exhibit at Sylvan Heights Bird Park with the purchase of our special waterfowl diet.  The waterfowl diet can be given to ducks, geese, swans, cranes, pheasants and flamingos during your trek through the park.  (Please do not feed the birds anything other than their special diet).

Download our education guides and get your students engaged in science during their field trip to Sylvan Heights Bird Park!  Guides are designed for all grade levels, and include activities and instruction about scientific processes.
