Meet some of Sylvans' special feathered friends and consider similarities and differences between different types of birds. Experience the wonders of our park, then make a bird craft* to carry home.
Objectives:
• Examine different kinds & understand the benefits of feathers
• See different types of eggs and waterfowl up close
• Learn basic characteristics of birds and how these are different from other animals
• Identify adaptations specific to waterfowl
• Each child can make a craft to bring home*

Develop childrens' connections with the natural world during their early years while their empathy is at its peak. Establish an appreciation of nature and understand the role of the natural environment in our lives. Discover why plants and animals need each other, meet some unusual animals, and discuss their habitats.
Objectives:
• Understand what a habitat is and identify the things important to people and animals
• See birds, reptiles, and other creatures and study their specific habitats
• Recognize the importance of food webs and other connections within ecosystems
• Discuss human dependence on the natural world

Explore natural wetlands and learn how essential these habitats are to our world. Find and identify many of the amazing plants and animals that call wetlands home. Discuss history of human impacts and current conservation practices. Make a wetland craft* to bring home.

• Learn how wetlands benefit animals and people
• See and examine wetland animals firsthand
• Explore a wetland and learn characteristic plants and animals
• Make a wetland craft* to carry home
