Sylvan Heights Bird Park offers PreK - 12th Grade programs and virtual experiences that support your STEM curriculum!
Virtual Science Programs
Join our education team live in our virtual classroom to learn about topics relating to birds, biology, wetlands, conservation, and much more! Each program includes the opportunity to meet some of our birds up close (virtually!) Programs are grade-appropriate and meet Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and NC Essential Standards (NCES) guidelines, including bird biology and wetland ecology.
Program duration: 30 - 45 minutes
Programs fees: $60 for up to 30 students
Virtual Science Programs are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
COMING SOON: Virtual Field Trips
Visit Sylvan Heights from the comfort of your home! Our educators will take your class on a live tour of Sylvan Heights Bird Park, stopping in each aviary to talk about the various species that call the park home. Meet more than 2,000 birds from around the world, and learn about the park’s efforts to save endangered species worldwide.
Duration: approximately 1 hour, 15 minutes, including a Q&A session at the end.
Virtual field trip fee: $150 for up to 30 participants
Virtual field trips are available on Mondays only.
Guest Speaker Opportunities
Invite a Sylvan Heights staff member into your regularly-scheduled virtual class as a guest speaker! Our staff will work with you to enhance your curriculum. Fees start at $50 for a 30-minute presentation.
