Sylvan Heights Bird Park is partnered with the International Wild Waterfowl Association (IWWA), an organization established in 1958 by aviculturists, conservationists, and ornithologists. Today, the IWWA is a group of private aviculturists, students, researchers, conservationists, educators, zoo professionals, and waterfowl enthusiasts from around the world working to preserve all 234 taxa of wild waterfowl.

The IWWA has provided financial support for many conservation projects that have directly impacted wild waterfowl populations.  Additionally, the IWWA provides funding for young aviculturists, biologists, and conservationists to receive training by experts in the field.
