Helmeted Curassow (Pauxi pauxi)

• This bird’s name is derived from the prominent, fig-shaped, bluish-grey casque atop its bill.
• Its preferred habitat is the South American cloud forest at elevations near 7,000 feet.
• All curassows are arboreal, although they spend considerable time on the ground.
