  • Also known as the Lake Duck.
  • Flying laboriously on buzzing wings, it is seldom observed in sustained flight.
  • Like most stiff-tailed ducks, courting drakes often cock their tails up.

Habitat: The Argentine Ruddy Duck have a large relatively large habitat range, extending throughout Chile and Argentina, but are not overly abundant else where.  They are rare in captive waterfowl collections, but are being bred with a greater frequency. 

 

 

Miscellaneous Facts: While very similar to the birds of the Peruvian race, they are not as large.  They have smaller bills and longer tails.
