Indonesian Masked Lapwing  (Vanellus miles)

This large plover has bright yellow wattles covering its face and long yellow wing spurs.  These birds are well known for their intense defense of their nest site; which is generally a simple scrape in the ground.  Both adults will aggressively attack potential intruders.  Chicks hatch out precocial and are ale to feed themselves within a few hours.
