Cinnamon Teal  (Anas cyanoptera)

  • Virtually the entire population is restricted to the Pacific Flyway, where more than half nest in Utah, with ducklings heavily preyed upon by gulls.

Habitat: The range for the Cinnamon Teal extends from Canada to Tierra del Fuego, in otherwards, from sea level to nearly 16,500 feet in the Andes Mountains in South America.   

 

Personality: They seldom gather in large flocks and normally aviod regions with low temperatures and high humidity.  They are quite trusting and are slow to take alarm. 

 

Miscellaneous: They are some of the few waterfowl that nest in both North and South America.  There are actually five types of Cinnamon Teals, they are the Northern Cinnamon Teal, Andean Cinnamon Teal, Argentine Cinnamon Teal, Tropical Cinnamon Teal and Borrero's Cinnamon Teal.
